Laboratory for Optical Fabrication and Testing (LOFT) - A facility under ‘Optical Workshop’ at IIST for precise fabrication and testing of optical and photonic components

Why we need such a facility?

•      The Optical Technology has penetrated deep in to our lives and holds the future technological progress. With the advent of lasers optics has gone beyond simple imaging of microscopic/macroscopic and astronomical objects. With the era of quantum technology, optical sensing and metrology, optical communication, spectroscopy, polarimetry is taking us to an altogether new R&D level.

•      Aerospace industry, Space technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology…. Optics is indispensable part of sensing and metrology.
