Vision and Mission
- To support teaching, learning and research by providing information resources either by owning a balanced collection of books, journals and other non-conventional information resources or by providing online access to journals, databases, and documents.
- Providing an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience with the right ambience for study and research.
IIST library is housed in a six-floor building at the centre of the campus. Library is automated using the Koha ILMS with all functional modules such as acquisition, cataloguing, periodical control, circulation, administration, etc., with provision for users to search and suggest books through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Facility to search the OPAC of other DoS/ISRO libraries is available in the library to facilitate Inter Library Loan.
Library has a balanced collection of books, journals, and e-resources covering all major subject areas. The book collection has relevant textbooks, supplementary reading materials, and reference books. The collection is developed based on need, with the active participation of faculty and students under the guidance of the Library Committee. The library ensures access to its materials by providing an open-access system for the collection of documents and by showcasing e-resources on the library portal.
Library is a proud member of the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) programme established by the Government of India. IP-based access is provided for e-resources, and off-campus access is enabled through the IIST Virtual Library (IVL). Resource Awareness Programmes are conducted periodically to familiarise users with electronic resources and web-based tools, thereby maximising the use of these e-resources.
