Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral position at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology to work on the design, fabrication, and testing of an all-electric powertrain for aircraft. The fellowship is funded by the Aeronautical Research and Development Board (AR&DB/DRDO) through the project titled “Electric Powertrain for All-Electric HANSA-NG – Technology Demonstration.” The Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) will work under the guidance of Dr. Sudharshan Kaarthik, with opportunities for collaboration with scientists and engineers from VSSC/ISRO and CSIR-NAL.

Job Description:

The project covers multiple aspects of an all-electric powertrain, including electric motor design, motor controllers, and power converters. The candidate may also be required to work on system engineering and project management aspects.

Eligibility:

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fields, from a recognised University.
  • Those who have submitted their PhD thesis and are awaiting award of the degree are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates, if selected, will be offered lower fellowship amount till they qualify the eligible degree.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Power Electronics, hands-on experience in building converters, programming DSPs, and a strong understanding of control systems.
  • The upper age limit for the fellowship is 35 years at the time of the submission of application, Age relaxation of 5 (five) years will be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates.

Fellowship:

  • Rs. 80,000/- + HRA (after defending thesis and production of completion certificate)
  • Rs. 50,000/- + HRA (submitted PhD thesis and production of proof of submission)
  • Funding is available for domestic travel, contingencies, and consumables required for the project. The position is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension up to two years from the date of joining, subject to available funding and satisfactory performance.
