Ms Jency J, Research Scholar in the Department of Chemistry, working under the supervision of Dr K Y Sandhya, has been awarded the Best Oral Presentation Award at the International Conference on Energy Conversion and Storage (IECS-2026), organised by IIT Madras. She presented her research work titled “An insight into the effect of sonication and activation in PET-derived activated carbon for supercapacitors-A waste upcycling approach”. Her study demonstrates the enhancement of capacitance in an energy-efficient way from carbon derived from waste plastic bottles and use it for supercapacitor applications.
