Seminar on ‘Engineering the phase of spatial coherence for optical metrology’
A seminar titled “Engineering the Phase of Spatial Coherence for Optical Metrology” was conducted on 21 November 2025 at the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST). The talk was delivered by Ms. Haneen V N (SC22D052), Research Scholar in the Department of Physics. The talk explained the idea of spatial coherence, which describes how light at different spatial points are correlated. The importance of controlling spatial coherence was highlighted, with special emphasis on the phase of spatial coherence function. The talk showed how controlling this phase can be useful for applications in optical metrology. The session concluded with an interactive discussion with the participants.
