As part of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” campaign, IIST has organised an awareness programme for newly joined UG, PG, and PhD students to raise awareness about substance abuse and support the vision of a drug-free, developed nation under Viksit Bharat@2047. During the Orientation Programme 2026 on 12 August 2026, Shri P. K. Jayaraj, Joint Excise Commissioner (Retd.), addressed the students on the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of making responsible and healthy choices. The session highlighted the role of young people in building a healthy, responsible and developed India.

The programme concluded with the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” pledge. The programme was an important initiative to raise awareness among young students and encourage them to contribute to a drug-free, developed nation.

The "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" pledge has been displayed on the campus digital signage systems for everyone to take the online pledge.
