The Department of Mathematics, IIST, is organizing a lecture series on Topological Data Analysis (TDA) by Dr. Siddharth Pritam, Assistant Professor, Chennai Mathematical Institute. The lecture series introduces the mathematical foundations of TDA and explores how topological ideas can be used to understand the shape and structure of data. The three lectures will cover the journey from point clouds and simplicial complexes to homology, Betti numbers, and persistent homology. Through intuitive examples, the lectures will illustrate how topological features such as connected components, loops, and higher-dimensional holes can be identified and studied across different scales. The lecture series will provide a perspective on TDA and its connections with machine learning and data analysis.
