IIST hosted an exhibition cum sale of Khadi products in the Recreation hall in SAC building on 11th and 12th August 2026 organised by The Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board as part of their Onam Khadi Mela 2026 thereby fulfilling its commitment to promote village industries. The exhibition featured handspun clothing including Khadi silk saree, bed spreads, and other items like honey, toiletries such as oil, soap shampoo, henna, cleaning materials, ayurvedic products such as aloe vera gel, axe oil etc. There was a 30% government rebate on purchases and lucky draw prizes. Special credit purchase facility of up to ₹1,000,000 was made available for government, semi-government, and bank employees. Students and staff actively participated in the mela and purchased the items whole heartedly.
