Department of Avionics

The Department of Avionics at the institute was established in the year 2007. Over the last two decades, the department has grown with expertise and competence in the core of Avionics (which is a perfect blend of Electronics Communications, Electrical and computer science engineering) curriculum and research. The department offers undergraduate program (B.Tech.) in Electronics Communications engineering (Avionics) and post graduate courses (M.Tech.) in Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Power Electronics, RF and Microwave Communication, and VLSI & Microsystems. Moreover, the department also offers Ph.D. in various discipline of Avionics/Electrical/Computer Science Engineering. Several sponsored candidates from ISRO-DoS (Department of Space) and DRDO carry out their post-graduate studies in the department. Besides this, the department also offers postdoctoral fellows time to time and inducts PDFs through various government schemes.
The vision of the Department is to educate graduate, post graduate and PhD students with substantial knowledge, skills, and expertise in the area of Electronics Communications, Electrical and Computer Science Engineering and thereby produce quality human resources in the area. It is also envisaged to undertake futuristic research in areas related to Electronics, Space Science and Technology which can feed to the ISROs programmes at suitable juncture. Moreover, all graduate students from department get opportunities to build their career in various leading public and private organizations through institute placement assistance. With this in mind a well-organized academic and research programme supported with lab facilities comparable with the world class institutions is provided to achieve excellence in the field of electronics, in particular to the Space Science and Technology and to meet the National requirements in the field of Science and Technology.

The curriculum consists of many state of the art courses from various disciplines such as Analog Circuits, Digital System Design, Communication Engineering, Signal Processing, RF and Microwave Engineering, VLSI Design, Navigation, Control and Guidance, Computer Technology and Power Electronics. The primary focus of the developed curriculum is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem-solving skills and innovation of new technologies. The Department offers a large number of cutting-edge elective courses for providing a wide spectrum of options to the students to pursue their interests. The course contents are periodically updated for introducing new scientific and technological developments and cater to the evolving requirements of industries and government. Undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake various academic and industrial research projects.

The Department maintains active research groups for carrying out collaborative and interdisciplinary research. Furthermore, the department has a very strong research collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization and the Department of Space. Within the department, state-of-the-art research facilities have been developed to support our academic programs and research. The department has a distinguished record in both teaching and research. Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are highly regarded in their respective fields. Many of them have been conferred with many prestigious awards at national and international levels. Several faculty members serve on the editorial boards of national and international journals, regularly review technical articles for journals, and organize international symposia and conferences.
